1. Purpose of this notice
This notice summarises how SACS Services (“SACS”) approaches its obligations under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA) and requests for records under the Promotion of Access to Information Act 2 of 2000 (PAIA). It should be read with our Privacy Policy.
2. Responsible party
SACS is the responsible party for personal information processed through this website and in connection with enquiries, cybersecurity services and training. Privacy and access-to-information enquiries may be sent to the SACS Information Officer contact at info@sacs.co.za.
3. Collection notice
When you contact SACS, the information requested is generally needed to respond to you, assess your requirements, prepare a proposal, deliver requested services or training, maintain security, or comply with legal obligations. Providing information is normally voluntary, but we may be unable to respond or provide a requested service if necessary information is withheld.
Information may be received directly from you, your organisation, authorised representatives, service providers, public sources or website technologies. It may be shared with authorised personnel, contracted service providers, professional advisers or public authorities where reasonably necessary and lawful. Some technology providers may process information outside South Africa subject to appropriate safeguards.
4. Your POPIA rights
Subject to POPIA and other applicable law, you may request access to personal information SACS holds about you, ask for inaccurate information to be corrected, request deletion where lawful, object to certain processing, or withdraw consent where consent is the basis for processing.
Requests should describe the information or processing concerned and include enough information for us to verify your identity. SACS may refuse or limit a request where permitted or required by law and will explain the applicable reason.
5. PAIA requests
PAIA allows a person to request access to records held by a private body when the record is required for the exercise or protection of a right. A request should identify the record, the right being exercised or protected, why the record is required, the preferred form of access and the requester’s contact details. Prescribed forms, proof of identity and permitted fees may apply.
Send PAIA enquiries and requests to info@sacs.co.za. Access may be refused on grounds permitted by PAIA, including protection of privacy, confidential commercial information, safety, security and legally privileged records.
6. Complaints
Please contact SACS first so that we can try to resolve a privacy or access concern. You may also contact or lodge a complaint with the South African Information Regulator. Current guidance, prescribed forms and contact details are available at inforegulator.org.za.
